Toddler Thrown from Carnival Ride

On Wednesday March 14, 2012 a three year-old toddler was thrown from a carnival ride, eight feet to the platform below. The girl was accompanied by her mother and 8 year-old brother on a carnival ride called the Techno Jump Ride, which involves a spinning carriage that rises into the air. However the girl's mother decided not ride, and exited before the ride began. One witness caught the whole event on film. The video shows the little girl in the carriage next to her brother, swinging around in the carriage. At one point her legs are seen hanging out of the carriage in what seems to be a very unsafe manner. The next few seconds of the film show the girl sliding underneath the lap guard and off the carriage, the girl holds onto the carriage for a moment and then falls eight feet to the platform of the ride.

After reviewing the tape, the officials blame the girl's mother for allowing her daughter to ride without an adult. They went on to claim that the ride operator was not at fault because the girl met the height requirement, and she looked older than she really was. The ride now requires that riders be at least 48 inches tall if they are going to ride alone, and 42 inches tall if they will be accompanied by an adult. The injured girl was taken to Texas Children's Hospital where she was treated for a contusion on her head and abrasions on her face; she is expected to make a full recovery.

This is a sad case where the negligence of one person caused the injury of another. It is fortunate that a contusion and several abrasions were all that occurred given the circumstances. The injuries sustained could have easily been far worse. If you or a loved one have been injured due to the negligence of another, you may be entitled to compensation for the damages you have sustained. It is urgent that you contact a Dallas personal injury lawyer from Jackson Allen & Williams, LLP, LLP immediately to discuss your case.
